Captain’s Joint Charity 2014

Each year the joint captain’s choose a charity to support during their year of office.  This year, they have opted to split the charity between three charities, two of which are local to the area.

The National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) provides support, information and advocacy for people with Rheumatoid Arthritis, their families, carers, and the healthcare professionals who treat them. More information can be found on www.nras.org.uk/about-ra

Mummy’s Star is a recently formed Charity based in Glossop in the aim of “supporting pregnancy through Cancer and beyond”. Founded in June 2013 by Pete Walroth after his wife Mair lost her battle against breast cancer just 10 weeks after the birth of their second child, Merlin, Mummy’s Star aims to help and support women and families through what can only be described as an impossible time. For those who missed recent local and national press coverage about Mummy’s Star, CLICK HERE and read Pete and Mair’s story – we challenge anyone not to be moved by it!

The Kinder Childrens Choirs were founded in 1991 founder director Joyce Ellis. The choirs offer the opportunity for youngsters from all over the High Peak to experience the joy of singing together and performing together in public, and are recognised as one of the country’s foremost choral organisations. Some of you will know the benefits the choir may have brought to your children, some of you may even be ex choristers, but we would encourage all of you to take the opportunity to see one of their many concerts throughout the year.
